C93 LONDON DATE MOVED AMEN!

Dearest All whilst The Birds Of The Air Are Sweetly Singing too:

LONDON SATURDAY 10 APRIL 2021: CHANGE OF DATE OF C93 & FRIENDS LONDON CHANNELING DUE TO VIRALSPIRAL

As we had been expecting, and as perhaps those reading this have been expecting too, the ViralSpiral has meant that we have had to move the date of the C93 and Friends Channelling in London, that was to have occurred on Sunday June 7 this year, to a new date next year, Saturday 10 April 2021.

The venue remains the same—the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and tickets are available herePlease note: the date change on the TicketMaster link may take a while to switch, and may presently show the old postponed Sunday 7 June 2020 date, but all ticket sales made are for the new date of April 10 2021.

TICKETS

Tickets for the postponed February 2020 Channelling, as well as this now-postponed June 7 2020 Channelling, are valid for the 10 April 2021 Channelling. Refunds may also be requested from the ticket agency from where you purchased the ticket.

The LineUp has also changed. We are OverMoon that our very dear friends Teleplasmiste have joined us; their new album on House of MythologyTo Kiss Earth Goodbye, is now available for pre-order here, and is released on 5 June 2020. The Wonderful Olcay Bayir and—Hurrah! for Baby Dee!—the Perfect Baby Dee will both still be with us, and with you, on the night. Our sisters and friends NWW are sadly no longer able to appear.

As for C93, we will be playing two completely different full-length sets, and the names of the sets appear, below, after C93’s name. The C93 BECOME MOON set will include works that C93 have never performed before, from all her masks and faces, and the C93 BECOME SUN set will include songs from the next two albums which have been finished but are not yet released, as well as many other works.

NEW SWEPT AND GARNISHED PAINTINGS

I have continued painting more pieces in my SWEPT AND GARNISHED series. All have been added to the shop, apart from those which I have held back for myself.

SWEPT AND GARNISHED T-SHIRTS & VESTS

Ania Goszczyńska and I have started a new line and label to Channel my paintings and other images that we love into and onto t-shirts and skittles. We will be making small runs of these designs. Each of our first two designs has a painting by me, from my SWEPT AND GARNISHED series, reproduced on the front, and the words SWEPT AND GARNISHED / DAVID TIBET with a facsimile of David’s signature reproduced on the back, and is available both as a vest and as a t-shirt. Each t-shirt and vest is hand-screenprinted with discharge ink on an AcidBlack 100% organic cotton, FairWear, Climate Neutral, and Vegan-Approved. Attached to the t-shirt’s label is a screenprinted up-cycled cardboard label, again with the words SWEPT AND GARNISHED / DAVID TIBET on one side. Each label is individually signed and numbered by me.

It’s hard for the photographs, in this update, to show what the AcidBlack colour looks like, so we have added a photograph of the fabric in these items description in the shop. HOWEVER, I am wearing one in the photograph of me in the Thomas Ligotti section on this update. The suppliers note that “each garment has been individually dyed to achieve the unique colour effect. It is characteristic of this process that each piece will have a different shade and might show certain unevenness. Caution: the colour may rub off and transfer onto lighter fabrics and surfaces.”

I personally love the colour—they are strangely smudged and darkly tie-died, and I wear the vests a lot, as you will see in the photo.

Regarding the vests, please be aware the sizing runs small, so please check the VESTS size chart on the shop. Essentially, a S fits a S woman, and fits a XS/S man; a M fits a M woman, and a S/M man; a L fits a L woman, and a M/L man. Regarding the t-shirts, it is also recommended that one checks the separate T-SHIRT size-chart.

The vest and the t-shirt are £33 + P&P

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS A PRE-ORDER; PRE-ORDERS WILL CLOSE ON THE EVENING (GMT TIME) OF MAY 17th.

FERELITH & FONTELAUTUS UPDATE

The news is still the same: everything is ready, except for the 4 different pairs of the record-labels. The screens are prepared, but until our screenprinter Patty is permitted to enter his studio, he can’t print them. As soon as Patty is allowed back in to his studio, he will finish the job and they will finally be packaged and mailed. Thank You For Your Patience!

IF A STAR TURNS INTO ASHES AT LAST BEING SENT OUT

We finally received these albums, and they are all being sent out now. Thank You For Your Patience!

DAVID ACCEPTS THOMAS LIGOTTI’S "BRAM STOKER AWARD" ON LIGOTTI'S BEHALF

I was as OverMoon as you might expect when Thomas Ligotti asked me to accept the Horror Writers Association’s (HWA) Annual Bram Stoker Award, for LifeTime Achievement, on his behalf. I accept it on the HWA film here, starting at 13.40. Tom then kindly gave me the Award you see me holding, and to add to my vast Ligotti archive. Thank you always and ever, dearest Tom! I Love You!

THERE IS A GRAVEYARD THAT DWELLS IN MAN UPDATE & SHIPPING

Strange Attractor have just told me they hope to ship the hardback and paperback editions of this volume in late May.

My new anthology, THERE IS A GRAVEYARD THAT DWELLS IN MAN, published by Strange Attractor Press on June 7, is the second volume in my and our series of the (primarily) SuperNatural stories that have most moved me, and also influenced my work as C93. The beautiful HardBack edition, limited to 500 signed copies, which is only available from Strange Attractor, comes with an accompanying paperback volume of AP Baker’s A College Mystery (1918)—one of the most beautiful and moving and original ghost stories I have ever read—considered to be so realistically written at the time of publication that it was long thought to be an authentic account of an actual haunting. PreOrders are now being taken here. A PaperBack edition will also be available. In both editions, as well as for A College Mystery (see below), I have designed the covers, end-papers, and frontispieces.

It is available in two editions:

A ClothBound HardBack special edition of There Is A Graveyard That Dwells In Man will be available to purchase for £40.00 directly from Strange Attractor Press. Featuring a distinctive cover design and original endpapers by David Tibet, this beautifully-bound book—limited to 500 copies—will be shipped with a separate paperback volume of AP Baker’s astonishing supernatural novella A College Mystery (1918).

A mass-market PaperBack edition of the collection, replete with French Flaps, will also be available to purchase through Strange Attractor Press, MIT Press, and all good bookshops for the price of £17.99.

An arcane compendium of strange fiction and hallucinatory tales, There Is A Graveyard That Dwells In Man collects chilling stories by renowned innovators of the weird and by many little-known and underrepresented or forgotten scribes of the macabre.

Selected by artist, writer, and musician David Tibet, this widely-sourced collection of supernatural rarities continues the bibliographic exhumation initiated with The Moons At Your Door (Strange Attractor Press, 2016), offering lyrical portals into worlds of strange beauty, elegant unease, and creeping decadence.

Authors include: HR Wakefield, HD Everett, LA Lewis, AC Benson, Thomas Ligotti, Lady  , Arthur Machen, Collette De Curzon, Nugent Barker, Edna W. Underwood, EF Benson, Oliver Onions, AM Burrage, John Gower, Algernon Blackwood, Amyas Northcote, LP Hartley, Edith Wharton, RH Benson, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Richard Middleton, and Walter De La Mare.

The volume also includes a new introductory essay by David Tibet, incorporating original translations made by him from Akkadian. Comprehensive biographical and publication histories for the stories, and their authors, are provided by Mark Valentine, the noted scholar of bibliographic arcana.

READ SAHIDIC COPTIC WITH GLYPHSTUDY!

My friend Karen has asked me to spread news of this amazing free online courses for anyone interested in reading Coptic. Her announcement follows.

We are a FREE, student led, online study group on Groups.io.

You can read texts with us!

For those who have finished the text book we use, we will be reading the Apopthegmata Patrum—or Sayings of the Desert Fathers—beginning on May 18, 2020. Because this is a translation section, it’s not for beginners. You should have made your way through a full Coptic grammar or equivalent course of study.

The Apopthegmata Patrum is a long text, but a number of the Sayings of the Desert Fathers—enough for around 30 readings—can be found in Lambdin’s Grammar, which you will need to purchase in order to participate in the Translation section: T.O. Lambdin, Introduction to Sahidic Coptic, Mercer University Press, Macon, GA,1983. The textbook is readily available at Amazon and other booksellers.

In Apophthegmata Patrum we become immersed in a world which is radically different from our own. They were written in the 3rd-5th centuries C.E. in very hard times-- the Great Persecution of Diocletian, the Huns in Italy, and in the East, the fall of the Roman Western Empire. They are a testimony of a movement which firmly marked the first steps of the spreading of Christianity—the ascetic flight to the desert. Monachism took different forms, asceticism and cœnobitic monasticism, for instance, which spanned from the stylites (the most famous case was that of Simeon Stylites (Symeon the Stylite), who lived for nearly 40 years on the top of a 50 foot high pillar) to monastic communities where the monks lived under the guidance of an “abba”, who was often a learned and Greek-influenced man. It was a very widespread movement which involved mainly Egypt, both the Delta and Upper Egypt, but also Syria, Edessa, Antioch, Cappadocia and most of the Judæan desert of Palestine around Gaza.

If you are interested in joining us for reading Sayings of the Desert Fathers, we will need to get you signed up for both our Discussion list/website as well as a separate homework-posting site just for your section. Send both your first and last name to Karen at: main+owner@GlyphStudy.groups.io

Make sure to specify the Translation section, as we are still signing up new students for our Coptic20 grammar section, also using Lambdin’s book.

Hope to see some of you signing up for the new Sahidic Coptic reading! Karen…
